Successful cover letters
Your cover letter is a significant part of your application and can allow you to distinguish yourself from other candidates. The following are some tips to assist you in preparing your cover letter:
- You should keep your cover letter brief, if it is any longer than 1 page the reader may lose interest.
- Do your research - find out who the cover letter and application should be addressed to
- Name the specific position you are applying for and how you came to know about that position
- In the body of the cover letter, let the reader know why you are interested in Deacons
- Also mention in the body of the cover letter any skills, experience or attributes that you have that would match and benefit the firm
- Proofread your cover letter carefully and ask someone else to read over it also
