Deacons' international projects team provides legal services, project management and consultancy advice on a wide range of aid projects in developing countries, often funded by bilateral or multilateral aid agencies. As well as advising on regulatory frameworks and policies, we contribute expertise in privatisation, commercialisation, corporatisation, drafting legislation, governance and training.
Our international team has strong capabilities in energy, resources, infrastructure, telecommunications and finance. In delivering project services, we often partner with specialist providers including economic consultants, project management companies and universities to complement Deacons' technical know-how in capacity building.

The United States Free Trade Agreement (“FTA”) heralds the most extensive changes to Australian copyright law in several years, extending the existing rights of copyright owners by providing stronger and longer protection to copyright works. The changes will also introduce some new rights and schemes that previously did not exist in Australian copyright law.
The 2004 edition of the Deacons publication “Foreign Investment in Australia” is now available. Intended as a general introduction to the regulatory framework relating to foreign investment in Australia, it was first published in 1998 and has been updated every year since. The publication is of particular value to inbound investors looking for a plain speaking and comprehensive guide when undertaking business in Australia.
