  • 2001 - Perth, July : Integration of the Perth office on 1 July 2001 into the national firm of Deacons.
  • 2000 - August: The partners of Dunhill Madden Butler Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne merged with Deacons on 1 August 2000.
  • 2000 - July: On 1 July 2000, the firm changed its name to Deacons. Deacons Graham & James firms in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne integrated to form one true national partnership.
  • 1995 - September: As a natural progression in this relationship, all the Australian and Asian offices adopted the common name of Deacons Graham & James. Gadens Ridgeway merged with Deacons Graham & James in Melbourne.
  • 1994 - July: On 1 July 1994, the partners of McPhillamy Cummins & Gibson in Canberra joined Deacons Graham & James.
  • 1992 - Asia: The growth of our business in Asia led to a strategic alliance with Deacons of Hong Kong and Graham & James of the United States, through which we operate offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Taipei and Tokyo.
  • 1988 - Australia: Formal merger of Sly & Russell and Weigall and Crowther. Subsequently, Cannan & Peterson of Brisbane and Warren Harrison of Perth joined the firm. Sly & Weigall was then established as a truly national firm.
  • 1987 - Australia: The Australian firm came together when Sly & Russell of Sydney & Canberra, and Weigall and Crowther of Melbourne jointly established the Perth office of Sly & Weigall.
  • 1975 - Perth: The firm's Perth office traces its origins back to 1975 and is a highly regarded law firm in Perth.
  • 1931 - Canberra: The firm's Canberra office began operating and is now a prominent law firm in the national capital.
  • 1907 - Brisbane: The Brisbane office, founded in Longreach in 1907 and practicing in Brisbane since 1915, has a long and distinguished history as an institution in Queensland. In addition to its commercial practice, it retains its strong involvement in the rural sector.
  • 1896 - Melbourne: William Weigall commenced in Melbourne, forming the foundation of a vibrant and progressive Melbourne firm which is now the Melbourne office of Deacons.
  • 1868 - Sydney: Dr George Sly commenced practice in Sydney, the firm which was founded, is now the Sydney office of Deacons.
  • 1851 - Hong Kong: Deacons takes its name from a young English solicitor, Victor Deacon, who arrived in the burgeoning British colony of Hong Kong in 1880 to join the legal practice established by William Bridges in 1851.
